Realism

The Realism (mid 1800s) is when instead of painting imaginary or ideal paintings, the paintings consisted of realistic and detailed figures. It started to portray more ordinary or common scenes rather than the unrealistic ones that would be favored by the upper class. Artists painted scenes that were actually there physically and not just in their heads. Scenes would often have subjects addressing a social, political, or moral message.
